Well just finished 12 weeks of work experience with the Blanchardstown Youth Service and the Mulhuddart Community Centre.  We are still waiting on the minister for children to write her information to go into the booklet, so we will do that as soon as they receive it.  The BYCA awards where on which 32 clubs entered and our computer group who done a video came in 2nd place. They now will go on to the Regionals round and if they get through that they will then go into the Nationals which will be shown on tv3.  The video is almost  finished, we just need to put in more footage from the awards night and it will be shown on the 10th year anniversary night in June. This week we took our group to the zoo to take photos to be framed for the exhibition night in June.  We also worked on video footage for the BYCA awards and our group’s boards are all handed in.  We worked on the promo video for the 10th year anniversary, it is almost finished we just have to add in some footage of the BYCA awards on the 3rd of May.  The booklet has been approved by head office and is to be sent off for printing  Then the invitations have to be sent out, which we will do on our last week of work experience week.

This week we got a few of the clubs ready for the BYCA awards so all the  booklets have to be filled out and boards ready for display, to be judged next week.  Our photography group bought 50 key rings and placed some of their photos into them. They sold all the key rings and made 150 euro for charity.  The videos of all the clubs are still been done, and should be finished by next week.  We then have to do a promo video for the 10 Year Anniversary and get the invitations done. Next week we are taking our club out to the zoo for the day to take photographs, which they will then put into frames, which they have designed and then they will be displayed in the centre for the anniversary.

This week we were busy doing photos and helping the different clubs get ready for the BYCA awards.  All the clubs have to fill in the work books for the BYCA awards and get their boards ready with photographs for display.  We also had a meeting with the committee to discuss the final details of the brochure and it is just about finished now, we are just waiting for a reply from the youth minister who is putting a message into the brochure.  Hugh came to visit us and he met Karen and Shane in the Youth Service. We showed him the brochure and some of the videos we are getting ready for the awards on the 2nd May.  The boards for the awards have to be in on the 18th of April so next week will be hectic getting all the boards ready and getting our own group’s boards ready and making photo frames and key rings.

We had a meeting with the anniversary committee about the final details of the brochure.  We settled on the fonts to be used and now we just have to put some more photos into the last few pages. It has been very time consuming working on the brochure as the committee have different views on information and photos to be used and things are constantly changing.  We have learned a new application (Indesign) while working on the brochure and we are happy with the end product. We are still getting footage for the BYCA awards as all the different youth clubs are entering.  Our photography group are entering too.  They are raising money for Dublin Zoo.  We are taking them to the Zoo to take photos which they are then going to frame and sell them in an exhibition night.  They are also going to put photos into key rings to sell too.  Next week the photo group will have to start working on there boards and fill in the booklet for the BYCA awards, as the boards, photographs and booklet have to be sent away for judging.

We have collected lots of video footage which we are now going to  start working on, as we have to make a promo video for the anniversary project, which will be shown on the night and some invitations.  All the BYCA awards footage will also be put together on video to be shown at the awards ceremony on the 2nd of May. Hugh is coming out next week to see us and see what work we have been doing. So the next few weeks will be just working on promo videos and doing up the invitations for the anniversary night in June.

This week we had a meeting with the committee to discuss the brochure. The feedback was all positive and they where delighted with it. Just have to do a few more pages and gather up some old photos that need to go in, so should be able to go to head office next week for approval.  We also helped the kids in the centre do a video for the byca awards which we will help them edit next week.  We will then start on the promo video and invitations for the 10th anniversary night in June, as well as putting video’s together for the byca awards on the 2nd of May. So we will be busy the next few weeks going round the different youth centers in Blanchardstown collecting footage and editing videos.

This week we had more meetings to discuss photographs to be used in the brochure. We need some old ones of the Project and new ones which Myself and Bernie have been collecting. We are also taking video footage and photos of the different groups who are entering the Citizenship Awards as well as helping them on the computers to design posters to advertise the events they are running.  The amount of pages for the brochure keeps getting changed at the minute, so by next friday we have to have it sorted as we are having another meeting with the committee to show them the end product before it goes to head office for approval, so they will let us know how many pages this week.  The colours are the Foróige colours which have to on the brochure, we do not have a choice in this.

This week we had a meeting with the committee about the brochure and contents to be put into it. We have decided on about 30 pages for the brochure and are going through a lot of old and new photos to insert into the brochure. We have also been talking to some of the kids in the project and getting their views on the project. The byca awards are underway with the kids putting forward their different projects and we are helping them with photos and videos.  We also attended a photography award in the civic offices in blanchardstown, which some of the children entered into. We also took some head shot photos of the Youth Officers and Club leaders for the brochure. We have just received some information from the committee which needs to go into the brochure, so hopefully we will have it ready for head office approval soon. Next week we will be collecting video footage from all clubs around the dublin 15 area for the byca awards.

This week we interviewed some past members and volunteers for the brochure. We also started using indesign for designing the brochure. We have to use the colours of Foróige  and the logos of the mulhuddart community center. The brochure is to have 20 pages and consist of photographs from all the clubs in the area and documents on what the Mulhuddart Community Youth Project is all about.  Video footage for a promo video of all the clubs and awards going on is also going  to be shown at the citizenship awards in May.

After having some tutorials in Indesign we have abandoned doing it in pages and have been working on our design using the colors of Foróige. Below is one of the designs

This week we worked down in the blanchardstown Youth Service with Shane.  He looked at ideas with us for designing the 10 year anniversary brochure, we went out to different clubs in mulhuddart and took some photographs for the brochure as well as some video footage and some interviews with the staff.  As the kids were on midterm we took some of them out to make a video for the byker awards, which we will edited with them next week.  Shane gave us some tutorials on the slr d60 camera as well as a look at the aperture application for photos. Bernie and myself have also been gathering all the information from the different groups in the community center and getting it typed up for the brochure.  We are now going to look at the application InDesign to design the brochure instead of the application pages, so we will be having tutorials from Shane about this application, as we have not used it before. He is also going to help us with the audio and sound in the videos as well as using the green screen when taking photos. We are also helping out with teaching some of the kids how to use photoshop to design posters for their clubs and a leaflet for a fundraiser they are organising.
